In Memory

Brenda Stigall (Mabe)

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that your classmate, Brenda S. Stigall passed away August 10th, 2007 after suffering for too long with ovarian cancer. I copy here for you her obituary:

Last night in the dark skies high above Summerfield, a new star was born. This newly created star is in the eastern sky and is filled with an unusually bright and heart warming light. For it is here that now resides the light reflecting the strong, sweet spirit of recently departed Brenda Susan Stigall Mabe. She lost a long and exhausting fight with cancer. Brenda overcame many physical challenges in her life and lived her life with a powerful passion and an admirable compassion for others. She loved all animals except spiders and died way too young at 58 years of age. One of Brenda’s many talents was the ability to listen to others, the ability to REALLY listen empathically. If you ever feel lonely, angry or just in the need to be heard, open your mind and gaze up into the eastern night sky and spill out your heart. Brenda’s unusually pure spirit will happily focus on listening to you and, afterwards, rest assured that your burdens will seem lighter.

There will be a memorial service for Brenda at the Oak Ridge Methodist Church located on route 150 west in Oak Ridge at 7 PM on Friday, August 24th, 2007.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.

Brenda had the most pure soul of anyone I have ever had the privilege to meet. I am sure she will join you in spirit for your class reunion. Enjoy it and your classmates!

Sincerely,

Jeff Mabe
