ANNOUNCEMENTS

REUNION RECAP

It seems that our 50th Reunion Weekend has come and gone in spite of being threatened by Tropical Storm Michael.  Everything went on as planned, flood waters receded, some power came back on and generators hummed.  A healthy crowd crammed the enclosed bar on Natty Green's Kitchen and Market deck on Friday night, and people got up close and personal while trying to recognize each other!  Sometimes it took a few seconds and a gentle reminder to connect faces with names!  Thank goodness for the cooler weather that arrived with Michael!

Saturday morning dawned sunny and seasonably crisp, a wonderful fall day.  About 30 of us were treated to an amazing spread of pasties, egg concoctions, fruit and other yummy nibbles at Judy Murphy's new home (with the help of 2 generators!).  It was a cool, but sunny morning on her back deck and the perfect place for more intense conversations.  Judy was unable to attend either Friday or Saturday night festivities, so she generously opened her home and fed us!!  Judy, you are the consummate hostess!!  We thank you so much for your part in making our reunion more memorable.

And finally, the power gods cooperated, and power was restored to our venue for Saturday night!  Again a wonderful crowd assembled at the beautiful GCC Farm clubhouse in time for a glorious sunset. So many people to greet, catch up with...not enought time!  But after "herding" everyone, we finally got a class photo and enjoyed a delicious dinner.  Robert Allen did an amazing job as our Master of Ceremonies, delivering an amusing and on point commentary.  Then Judy Roland Venable shared some memories of "then and now".  Friendships were updated and rekindled and new friends were made.  Thanks to Anna Robinson Heroy and Robert Allen for creating a fun photo booth.  You will probably see some of those photos soon when we have those uploaded to this site.

If you weren't a part of the weekend festivities, please know that you were missed, asked about, discussed...because we were all part of this group of 1968 Page Pirates and will be forever.

REQUESTED INVOCATION AND BLESSING

WOW What a great evening - I hope that everyone enjoyed our time together as much as I did. Several kind folks expressed an interest in the prayer used to bless our meal. Here it is . . .

Please prepare your hearts and minds . . .
We gather here tonight with grateful hearts. We are thankful for family and friends, some of whom are here with us tonight. We are blessed to live in a world created to provide for all our physical needs. Where the sun provides light & warmth and the moon & stars decorate the canvas of the night.
We mourn the absence of our classmates who departed this earth before we were ready for them to leave. We ask for protection and healing for those of our number that are not here, for whatever reason, let them know that they were missed.
We ask blessings on the individuals that grew, gathered, delivered & prepared the food we are about to eat. We are thankful for the hands that made ready for our arrival this evening and those that will clean up after we have enjoyed ourselves.
May this food help strengthen our tired bodies, energize our weary minds and restore our troubled souls.
As we leave here tonight, we do so knowing that even if we can’t do great things, we can at least do small things in a great way.
To all that we each hold sacred, Amen

Robert Allen
